Ten Days  with Optional 4-Night Paris Extension !

2008/2009 Planned Itinerary

This unique blend of Yoga and the charms of the South of France may seem a bit unusual at first glance. But since both are all about feeling good, we think it’s the perfect blend for an unforgettable holiday in one of the world’s most delightful regions. The tour also offers expert Yoga instruction and a wonderful retreat location for those who prefer a more traditional Yoga Retreat experience.

Day 1-  Departure from your hometown.

Day 2 – Arrival in Paris, Charles de Gaulle & Provence

After arrival in Paris we connect at Charles de Gaulle Airport with the fantastic TGV bullet train for First Class travel to Avignon. We’ll enjoy a wonderful luncheon treat onboard as the panorama of France unfolds before us.

From Avignon we’ll transfer to St Remy de Provence, the native town of Nostradamus. There we’ll check in to neighboring Mas des Figues, a traditional Provencal historical farmhouse converted into a charming hotel. (“ Mas” is the dialect in Provence that means “farmhouse”)

A delightful Welcome Dinner with cocktails awaits us by the pool. We’ll have a brief orientation before a well-deserved sleep.

Day 3 – Isle sur la Sorgue , Fontaine de Vaucluse.

Today we’ll experience a Sunrise Yoga introduction followed by a natural products breakfast (breads are freshly baked, and most of the produce and eggs are from Mas des Figues itself!)

Then it’s on to the charming town of Islesur la Sorgue, with its canals, watermills.
And renowned authentic street market. Lunch will be a picnic assembled from fresh and healthful foods specially selected from the market.

In the afternoon we’ll make our way to nearby Fontaine de Vaucluse,
Where we’ll enjoy a short hike to The source of the Sorgue River. This place is one of the natural wonders of Provence, where crystal clear spring water erupts from the rock mountain in a giant dramatic surge. It’s the perfect place for a
meditation.

We’ll stay for dinner at Fontaine de Vaucluse, including wine, and then return to the peaceful calm of Mas des Figues.

Day 4 – MAS DES FIGUES: relaxation + cooking class

Today brings sunrise Yoga, followed by another delightful Mas des Figues breakfast.

The morning can be for relaxation by the pool; or take a leisurely hike to the nearby village of Le Baux, a breathtaking hill village that seems to have sprung naturally from the stones on which it is perched. Lunch will be a self-service buffet poolside or a wonderful picnic at Le Baux.

Then in the afternoon we’ll experience a hands-on Provencal cooking class using many of the ingredients we’ve gathered locally. After we take part in cooking the meal, what else can we do but savor it all with some delicious local wines under the starlit sky of Provence?

Day 5  - Scenic Luberon: Gordes and Roussillon

After morning Yoga and breakfast at Mas des Figues, we’re off to the AlpillesMountains for exceptional scenery in the famed Luberon region.
Our first stop is at the hilltop village of Gordes with its vaulted medieval lanes and stunning views. We’ll also stop by to see the “Bories”, ancient slab stone domed dwellings which were traditionally used as shelters for centuries.

Then it’s on to Roussillon, featuring red and ochre buildings mingling with the surrounding pink cliffs. Lunch today will be on your own during leisure time at either Gordes or Roussillon

Dinner tonight will be a special treat! Near Gordes we’ll dine at La Ferme de la Huppe, a lovingly-restored 12th century farm complex.

After a relaxing dinner we return to our cozy beds at Mas des Figues.

Day 6 – Les Baux and St Remy

Morning brings sunrise Yoga time, followed by another delightful Mas des Figues breakfast in the open air of Provence.

Then it’s on to the awesome village of Les Baux, a breathtaking hill village that seems to have sprung naturally from the stones on which it is perched. Lunch will be on your own at one of the mountain-top town’s wonderful restaurants. In the afternoon we’ll experience an awe-inspiring presentation in Les Baux.

On the way down to St. Remy de Provence, known as the “Heart of Provence” we can visit some of the area’s exceptional Roman ruins, and the asylum where Vincent van Gogh was a patient and where he painted many famous nearby landscapes. Stand in the spots where he painted, and see the very views he saw. We won’t want to leave this fascinating place, but we must move on.

In the late afternoon we’ll return to Mas des Figues for dinner, wine and relaxation by the pool.

Day 7 – French Riviera Beach trip.

After morning Yoga and breakfast at Mas des Figues it’s on to Marseille and along the coastal scenic road to Hyeres for fun-in-the-sun on the French Riviera!
